Social aid grants

Reminder : The Dossier Social Etudiant combines in one single application form demands for both higher education grants and university residence accommodation.
The demand for a form should be made by the internet (https://dse.orion.education.fr/depot/), from the secretary’s office of the establishment (secondary or higher) attended by the student, from the university residence (for students already living there) or, in the case of applicants not in education, from the CROUS. The demand should be made between 15 January and 30 April.

Conditions :
- attend an institution under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research or the Ministry of National Education and one which is allowed to admit grant holders,
- be aged 25 or under on 1 October for a first application for a grant,
- be a French national. Foreign students must work or have worked in France and have one of their parents that have resided in France for 2 years or more. For students whose parents are EC nationals, their parents must work or have worked in France or the student himself must have already worked in France.

Grants are awarded according to parental income as gauged on a nationwide scale. They are issued for a 9 month period and are paid out monthly.
The application must be renewed every year.

University grants

- Grants for DESS / Master Professionnel : grants for DESS students are given to former grant holders as a priority, within the limits of a ministerial quota.
- Grants for DEA / Master Recherche :
- Research's allowances : allowances for DEA students preparing a doctorate and who are less 25 years old (an exemption is possible). This is an employment's contract from 1 to 3 years which opens right to the social security.
Application form can be obtained from the secretary’s office of your DEA.
- Grants for Agregation : reserved for students who prepare the contests of Agregation. Grants for Agregation are attributed within the limits of an academic quota.
These grants can be requested by minitel or internet and a special application form must be collected at the start of the new school year, to your university.
