Regional grant for training abroad
Conditions :
- The applicant must possess or obtain, during the year in which the demand is made, a recognised French diploma, with a minimum level of Bac+2 and a maximum of Bac+5.
- The applicant must justify his/her matriculation in a public or private establishment recognised by the State and be preparing a recognised diploma.
- The applicant must have been enrolled in an establishment of higher education in the Rhone-Alpes region during at least the two academic years preceding the departure abroad.
- The applicant must pass the exam presented during the year of application or justify his/her passage into the following year of study.
- The applicant must follow a training period or work placement for a minimum period of four months with a maximum of nine months, covered by the Region.
- The application must be presented to, and approved by, your establishment of origin.
- The training period must not be exclusively linguistic.
The amount of the grant varies between 305 and 380 euros/month.
Forms can be obtained from the service des Relations internationales of your establishment in January. Return of the application forms : March.
Grant to encourage the mobility of students (SIME)
This grant is available to students who are Bac+2 to Bac+5 and who have received all their education, Baccalauréat included, in Rhone-Alpes and who are enrolled in a higher education establishment outside the region. It consists of a grant for work placement or training in a foreign country (about 152 euros/month) for a duration of 4 to 9 months.

Regional grant from the student SME/SMI partnership
- Short work placement :
This grant is available for students who have completed four or six years of study in a Rhone-Alpes higher education establishment and who do, as part of their studies, a work placement (for a duration of 2 to 4 months) associated with a project within a Rhone-Alpes SME/SMI (less than 500 employees). Its amount is 380 euros/month.
Application forms can be obtained and returned from the cellule stage of your establishment.
- Long work placement :
This grant is open to students enrolled in their final year of study and who have completed between two and six years of study. The student must be enrolled in a higher education establishment in the Rhone-Alpes region and must also want to do a work placement (for a duration of 5 to 10 months) in a Rhone-Alpes SME/SMI. The SME/SMI in question assures the financing of the placement with a grant of 380 euros/month.
Application forms can be obtained and returned from the cellule stage of your establishment.
Doctoral research loan
Conditions :
- The applicant must be a young postgraduate DEA holder enrolling in his/her first year of doctoral studies at the start of the new academic year.
- The applicant must want to prepare a doctoral thesis in a laboratory in the Rhone-Alpes region, in relation with a company, an industrial or socio-economic partner situated in Rhone-Alpes.
These grants are awarded annually and last a maximum of three years. The renewal of the grant depends on the results of the assessments of the applicants work that take place at the end of the first and second year. The monthly net amount is about 1 120 euros, delivered in three payments throughout the academic year.
Doctoral research grants cannot be held simultaneously with any other funding (allocations de recherche, fees, grants from other organisations...).
The application form will only be accepted if it is integrated into the research project, as proposed by the Rhone-Alpes region establishment to which the applicant is attached, which corresponds to the offers available.
Technology transfer contract
The aim is to favorise technology transfer projects by associating :
- A graduate who has completed five years of higher education for at least six months
- A higher education and research establishment, a technical centre or a state-funded research organization that signs a work contract of one year with the young graduate
- A Rhone-Alpes SME/SMI willing to accept the young graduate for half of the contract and to participate in the financial side of the contract.
Help from the Region takes into account all the salarial costs (up to a maximum of 32 100 euros).

EURODOC grant
The aim of this programme is to give doctoral students the freedom to study in different places. It is open to all students currently preparing a doctorate, regardless of the organisation that funds them and regardless of their destination.
Conditions :
- The application must be made during the first year of doctoral studies.
- The thesis must be co-directed by a Thesis Director from a Rhone-Alpes region establishment and a Thesis Director from a foreign establishment that is entitled to deliver a diploma that is the equivalent of a French doctorate.
- During the preparation of the thesis, the student must do a placement of at least six months - which could be split into two periods if necessary - in a foreign laboratory.
- The Jury whose mission is to deliver the Doctoral diploma must include the two Thesis Directors and the Director of the foreign laboratory where the placement was carried out (if this person is not one of the Thesis Directors).
The successful applicants will receive a lump sum of about 3 810 euros.

Passeport pour l'Etranger Pour un Stage en Entreprise (PEPSE)
Since 2001, this grant is open to students from first university cycle or in school of health or social service, who have an obligatory work placement in a foreign country to do as part of their studies. Its amount is 95 euros/whole week of work placement for a duration of 4 to 16 weeks.
Application forms can be obtained from your establishment and returned 2 months before the starting date.
International research grant
Conditions :
- The applicant must have passed his/her doctorate in a laboratory in the Rhone-Alpes region in the academic year 2001/2002 or be holder of a doctorate.
- The laboratory that welcomes you must be abroad.
These grants are awarded for a minimum period of 5 months with a maximum of 12 months. They are established on the basis of about 1 906 euros per month. The application form will only be accepted if it is integrated into the research project, as proposed by the Rhone-Alpes region establishment to which the applicant is attached, which corresponds to the offers available.

Bourses mobilité Internationale Rhône-Alpes (MIRA)
Conditions :
- Student exchanges or reception of foreign students or trainees with a minimum level of 2 years of higher education.
- Exchanges between doctoral and post-doctoral students.
- Exchanges between teaching staff and confirmed researchers.
