Municipal libraries
There is a library in every "arrondissement" in Lyon. A single borrower’s card gives you access to all of these libraries (inscription : 5,40 euros/year for students, 3 video cassettes and DVD: 32 euros, CD and records : 18,3 euros , 2 works of art for 2 months : 7 euros). The annual inscription enables students to borrow up to 10 documents at a time for 3 weeks.

The municipal libraries organise a wide variety of cultural events. The programme is available in the twice monthly magazine TOPO, which can be found in all the libraries and at Com’Et.

There are 10 multimedia posts with free access. They allow you to :
- consult CD-ROMs (Le Monde, Dispatches from the Agence France Presse, World Atlas, PC human body, PC space, Megastat Europe, Le Robert, Harrap’s, Encyclopaedia Groller, Electre, the Kompass, the Kompass Europe, and so on),
- consult digitised documents (press documents, etchings, photos, and so on),
- have access to Internet (by appointment).
Each post is linked to a printer.

This mediathèque allows you to borrow and consult a variety of different types of document : books, microfilms, videos, CDs, CD-ROMs and so on. Numerous conferences and public readings are organised (the programme is changed twice a year) as well as a book festival in May.

La médiathèque de Vaise
Open since September 2000, this mediathèque specialises in documentation on the performing arts (theatre, dance and so on).


Second hand bookstalls
There are many open air second hand bookstalls along the Quai de la Pêcherie (69001).
