Enrolment in first or second year at a university
If you have a school-leaving certificate from a foreign country, you should make a “Demande d’Admission Préalable” (initial request for admission, DAP) and sit an exam. DAP forms should be obtained before 15 January and returned before 15 February to the university in which you would like to enrol (if you are still living abroad, the form should be returned to the cultural services of the French embassy).
A certain number of students do not have to fill in this form or take the exam: citizens of countries in which French is the official language, students who have passed the DALF, and so on).

Other enrolments
(Preparatory classes for the “Grandes Ecoles”, BTS, IUT, IUP, third, fourth or postgraduate studies at a university, establishments for which admission is based on an exam, and so on.)
In all the aforementioned cases, enrolment is made directly at the establishment in question.
