Foreign students, please read attentively what follows:

In certain cases you do not need to make an appointment:

If at the time of a precedent meeting, you obtained a residence permit of less than one year, limited to the end of your inscription :
It is enough for you to present yourself at the Préfecture du Rhône with your passport and your new inscription (original + photocopy). If need be, a complement of resources will be required of you.
If your current temporary residence permit were limited to the end of validity of your passport and that you made extend that passport (or obtained a new passport):
Present yourself at the Préfecture du Rhône with the original of your passport as well as photocopy (page of extension or page of identity and validity, according to the case).
In the event of loss or theft of your passport with a residence permit, you do not need to make an appointment:
Present yourself at the Préfecture du Rhône, with two passport photographs, a proof of residence less than three months old and, possibly, your statement made to the police.
In the event of change of address inside the Rhône département :
Present yourself at the Préfecture du Rhône with your passport and document in proof of your new address (original + photocopy).

You must make an appointment in the following cases :

If you arrive from another department and are from now on living in the Rhône,
If you live in the Rhône department and carry out a first request,
If you live in the Rhône department and ask for the renewal of your title,
If you are the spouse or the joint one of a student.
If you request the renewal of your residence permit, you cannot make an appointment before the two months preceding the end of validity of your residence permit. You cannot either, make an appointment beyond four months after the end of expiry of your residence permit.
