Taking part in the activities on offer allows you to improve your level or discover new sports. It is also a chance to meet other students and thus integrate more fully in associative life.

Each university has its own branch of the SUAPS (Physical Activities and Sport), which offers a variety of possible formulas :

Integrated sport
Some universities allow you to integrate your sports mark completely, whereas others allow the mark to be added into your other marks in a different way.
Bonus points can be given.

Competitive sport
The sports associations of each establishment hold training sessions and competitions (on Thursdays) as part of the National Federation of University Sport (FNSU)

Student manifestations
The Sports Associations (AS) and Student Offices (BDE) organise sports competitions throughout the year.

High level sport
It is possible for top level sportsmen and sportswomen with national or regional ambitions to have an individualised study plan, taking the heavy demands of training and competition into account. This arrangement may mean an extension on the number of years allowed for studies, or extra lessons, special times for exams and priorities when it comes to signing up for “travaux dirigés” (tutorials). There are special centres for high level sport, which group together students for training sessions in: athletics, rowing, rugby, water polo, karate and canoeing. Some of these structures have been classed as Centres of Potential and are part of the hierarchy of the Direction Régionale de la Jeunesse et des Sports.
