You have registered in an institution in Lyon ? You are going to make a work experience ? The search of an accommodation is an important stage for your life comfort. The options which are suggested to you depends on how long you stay.
If you are passing through
You can try the temporary accommodation. Depending on the lenght of your stay, the prices vary from 300 to 400 euros(inclusive).
Some student residences with services also receive trainees within the year depending on their abilities. Don't hesitate to enquire from every residences, they have their own terms.
The different renting options for a long stay
CROUS and HLM
The CROUS runs the accommodation in university halls of residence (room, studio or type 2 flat).
The HLM office suggests all kinds of accommodations. Some of them keep a part of their accommodations for students.
Be careful with the final date to submit your file to the CROUS (from the 15th January to the 30th April) and with waiting time for the HLM.
Private housing stock
You can choose to look for yourself an accommodation for rent (room or flat). You must go through an estate agency, a property manager (a "régie") or directly private. Some steps are necessary. You must add to your rent all the expenses (electricity, water, phone).
For an accommodation in town, you can try the roommate !
Residences with services (private student residences) ask for more or less high file fees. Very often rents include the water. The rest is payable by yourself.
Accommodation price
These prices are indicative. You can in every case ask for a housing benefit.
- CROUS
From 125 euros for a room to 460 euros for a type 2 flat. Water and electricity expenses are inclued in CROUS accommodations.
- HLM
T1 :145 euros+45 euros(expenses) =190 euros, T2 :200 euros+70 euros (expenses) =270 euros. Heating and water are inclued in the rent.
- In classic rented accommodation by private agencies and ads : from about 260 to 400 euros, for a studio flat from 17 to 30 square metres in which you must add expenses. The rent increases if you have a balcony, a cellar, a car park, the shared heating or depending on the district.
Agency fees vary from 130 euros to a net monthly rent.
- In residences with services : the rent is setting between 215 et 335 euros (water included).
Accommodations are equipped and/or furnished. You have services at your disposal : a launderette at a good price, a study room, a caretaker, a sports room, an entry phone...
In every case, the accommodation must be insured at your name. OSE Point Logement, SMERRA la mutuelle étudiante and La Mutuelle Des Etudiants (LMDE) propose a special multi-risk house insurance policy for students.
Unless you are not liable to tax, you must also pay the annual council tax.
